DIY Kitchens Installation in Binfield
The Job: A Full Kitchen Renovation with DIY Kitchens Units
In the spring of 2022, freelance kitchen designer Helen Spendlove approached InstallXL to price the installation of a new kitchen for her client, who were planning a complete kitchen diner renovation in Binfield.
Their vision included new cabinets, quality appliances, quartz worktops, durable LVT flooring, and the space fully redecorated.

The Design: A Modern Gloss Anthracite Kitchen with Functional Features
This L-shaped kitchen was designed by Helen to balance style and functionality. The gloss anthracite cabinets create a bold, contemporary look, which contrasts beautifully with the white quartz worktops and splashbacks, which feature a subtle sparkle.
Under the window, a large undermount sink makes the most of the natural light, while the large induction hob was positioned on the rear wall to maximise cooking space. Underneath are two 100cm wide pan drawer units which efficiently maximise storage and accessibility.
At the other end of the kitchen is a small peninsula-style breakfast bar with seating and a wine cooler. Opposite is a tower run with a larder fridge, two ovens, warming drawer, and a larder freezer.
The floor is Camaro, a durable LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring that’s easy to maintain, warmer than tiles to walk on and repairable should an accident happen. The Quayside Oak colour brings warmth to the coolness of the anthracite and white walls and worktop and works with the contemporary wood and glass doors leading to the hallway.
Lighting is always a key part of any successful renovation, so the ceiling has new dimmable LED downlights. Task lighting is provided by LED tape in an angled profile under the wall units, ensuring bright and focused illumination for food preparation. For entertainment and evening ambience, colour-selectable RGBW LED tape is installed at plinth height, allowing the homeowners to set the mood.
The Build: Preparation is the key to the great result
The InstallXL team began with the removal of the existing kitchen, glass splashbacks and flooring, followed by the positioning of the electrical points to accommodate the new plan, including new dedicated supplies for the ovens. Likewise, the plumbing was updated to support a new water softener, dishwasher and Quooker 5-in-1 tap.
All the walls and ceilings were then prepared for decorating, which took a while as the ceiling had been poorly plastered in the past, requiring extensive sanding and making good. Finally, the floor was then skimmed with a smoothing cement to create a perfect base for the flooring.
Once the room was ready, we installed the pre-assembled DIY Kitchens cabinets, quickly followed by the worktops being templated and manufactured, which generally takes about a week.
During this time, we got on with decorating and laying the Camaro flooring. After the worktops and splashbacks were fitted, we then fitted the wall units and completed the final details, such as the corner tray system, built-in bins, and under-unit lighting. Overall, the installation took about 4 weeks to complete.
The Result: A Striking and Highly Functional Kitchen Diner

As you can see from the pictures, the finished kitchen diner in Binfield is a stunning transformation, combining modern style with high functionality. The gloss anthracite cabinets set against the white quartz worktops create an elegant and contemporary atmosphere, while the large induction hob and undermount sink provide a streamlined look while being highly practical for cooking. The 5-in-1 Quooker tap provides the ultimate convenience while encouraging more water to be consumed without the need for plastic water bottles.
The tower run features a larder fridge, oven, microwave, and larder freezer, providing ample storage and easy access to all kitchen essentials. The peninsular breakfast bar, with its integrated wine cooler, is perfect for entertaining and adds a touch of luxury to the space that leads to the dining table.
The new Camaro flooring adds warmth to the modern space, and colour-changing plinth lights give the kitchen a stylish, dynamic look that’s always ready to impress.
Overall, the renovation resulted in a kitchen that is not only visually striking but also highly functional, perfectly tailored to the needs of the Murphy family.
